To prove their safety and effectiveness, how are YESforLOV lubricating gels tested? In order to meet France's strict regulatory requirements, to comply with health authorities worldwide, and to ensure the utmost safety for our consumers, YESforLOV has rigorously studied its products using recognised scientific methods in order to prove their effectiveness and safety. We are setting the bar when it comes to health and safety requirements in the cosmetics and sexual cosmetics industry.
To design a product that respects your body and is suitable for your use, YESforLOV is committed to conducting clinical tests which are done by independent laboratories before each product is launched. Here are the different tests carried out:
- Gynaecological Use Test: This is a clinical evaluation conducted by a gynaecologist on the acceptability of the product after use over a period of 21 days.
- In vitro mucosal tolerance tests for finished products: this is a study which consists of evaluating the capacity of the intimate lubricant to induce a cytotoxic effect on reconstituted human vaginal mucosa in order to evaluate the rate of cell mortality and to determine the irritability of the product.
- Challenge test: this is a test to demonstrate the effectiveness of the antimicrobial activity (bacteria, yeast, and moulds) of the intimate lubricant preservative system at different time intervals over the course of a month. This demonstrates that the antimicrobial activity of the product provides adequate protection against the harmful effects that can result from microbial contamination.
- Condom Compatibility Test: This test assesses the compatibility of the product with latex or polyurethane condoms by analysing the resistance of condom samples after treatment with the intimate gel.
- Compatibility test with sextoys: the objective is to evaluate the degradation of the silicone during a period of product applications lasting longer than 5 days.
- In Vitro Efficacy Testing: Each of the claims made on our products are demonstrated by bio-metrological measurements, such as clinical tests that demonstrate the active effect of the formula by measuring factors, such as the improvement of epidermal differentiation by subjective evaluations.
- Formula stability test: this study determines the durability of the formula once it’s placed in its primary packaging. The integrity of the product is evaluated according to several relevant criteria such as microbiological, physico-chemical (PH, viscosity) and organoleptic (odour, colour) criteria.
- Satisfaction test: Because sexuality is also a question of relationship and trust with our customers, YESforLOV intimate lubricants have been tested and certified before being put on the market by our ambassadors, customers, and retailers.
Are YESforLOV lubricants VEGAN?
We confirm that all YESforLOV intimate lubricants are vegan and have not been tested on animals. Health, the environment, and consumer safety have always been a top priority for YESforLOV.
So is animal advocacy. Since its creation in 2008, no animal tests have been carried out by YESforLOV. Furthermore, in order to analyse the safety and efficiency of our cosmetic products, we favour clinical tests on reconstructed human vaginal epithelium.
Are YESforLOV lubricants suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women?
No scientific studies have shown any particular risk for pregnant women and their foetuses when using cosmetic products. The international cosmetic regulations do not specify any specific regulations for pregnant women different from those applicable to all consumers. YESforLOV products and their ingredients are subject to a very rigorous evaluation that guarantees a high level of safety for our consumers.
When used as directed, our YESforLOV intimate lubricants do not present any danger or risk to pregnant or breastfeeding women, but we always advise our consumers who have specific questions about the use of our products during pregnancy to consult their doctor or gynaecologist for guidance.
Are YESforLOV lubricants compatible with condoms and sextoys?
Yes and yes! For condoms, it is also strongly advised to apply a water-based lubricant on your penis before putting on a condom. This prevents it from coming down and guarantees its effectiveness. However, be careful what you use as an intimate lubricant! Lubricants using greasy substances or body oils, for example, should not be used with latex condoms. According to a 1988 study in the N/white manual " Dangers of lubricants used with condoms ", the application of baby cream destroys 95% of the condom's resistance in only fifteen minutes. In this way, oil-based lubricants significantly increase the breakage rate while water-based lubricants reduce it.
Fortunately, our YESforLOV lubricants are not affected by these two scenarios and are perfectly compatible with the use of latex condoms.
Regarding our products compatibility with sextoys, it is mandatory to lubricate your erotic accessory before use.
However, it is important for you to be careful when choosing a lubricant to pair with your sextoy depending on the material used. Knowing that silicone remains the primary material used to make sextoys, it is preferable to use water-based intimate gels.
It is strongly recommended that you don’t use silicone lubricants in this case, because they have the effect of deforming and deteriorating the quality of your silicone toy.
For intimate toys made of wood, porcelain, borosilicate glass, or surgical steel, all intimate lubricants are compatible including Silicone-based intimate lubricants!
Make sure to pay special attention to the composition of your sextoy - avoid anything containing phthalates and other potentially dangerous or carcinogenic materials that can harm your intimate mucous membranes.
How long do YESforLOV intimate lubricants last?
- Please respect the expiry date of the product to avoid any risk of contamination. This is usually written on the tube or on the product packaging. You can keep your lubricating gel for 6 to 12 months after opening the product.
- Always keep your intimate lubricant away from light and at room temperature.
What precautions should be taken before use?
As a reminder, here are precautions:
- Intimate lube is not a contraceptive.
- Always wash your hands first.
